Alejandra Ordóñez, cello
Alejandra fell in love with the cello at a very young age when she attended the concerts of the symphony orchestra with her mother, to whom she told that she wanted to learn the instrument.
At an early age, she began her studies at the National Conservatory of Music with professors Raquel and Rosiris Barrios, standing out in the instrument because of her discipline and commitment. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Music with a specialization in Cello in 2018. In 2017, She started a career in Music with specialization in orchestral instruments at the Faculty of Fine Arts and is currently in her last year.
From the age of 9, she was part of the National Concert Association camps (2008-2018) and the National Conservatory of Music camps (2008-2010). She was also cellist of the National System of Orchestras (2009-2011), the National System of Musical Education of Costa Rica (SINEM) Camp (2013), the Iberoamerican Youth Orchestra (2014) and among other events such as the famous Musicalion here in Panama. She has also participated in Panama Jazz Festival's clinics (2014-2015), the Second National Early Music Festival of Panama (2016), the Alfredo Saint Malo International Festival (2017-2018), and the Cello Fest of Panama (2017-2018). She has been a member of important musical ensembles in Panama such as the National Youth Orchestra of Panama (2010-2016) and the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Panama (OSUP) (2017- 2019).
In addition, she has been part of orchestras that have accompanied artists such as Paloma San Basilio, Il Volo, Ricardo Velázquez, Ingrid de Icaza, Osvaldo Ayala, Omar Alfano, among others. She is also a session musician for recordings and projects.
She was granted a scholarship by the University of Panama to be part of the International Music Festival Guaranda 2019 orchestra, whose headquarters is in Ecuador, which was formed by young people from different countries of Latin America and, in addition, she was soloist of the Camerata Nuevo Mundo of the festival, formed by a select group of young participants of the festival with previous audition. The Camerata toured different cities in Ecuador and Colombia.
Currently, he is a member of the orchestra of "1903: The Musical", the cello ensemble of the University of Panama and the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama.
After finishing her studies at the University of Panama, she hopes to continue her master's studies abroad.
